In the turquoise waters of the Turks and Caicos Islands, our family documented our summer vacation with screenless, waterproof kids’ cameras that inspired “the Vacay Collection.” The point-and-shoot style cameras provided an opportunity for us not only to physically photograph differently, but also to view and enjoy our results together as a family as we discovered each day upon uploading what we had captured under the water: fish, feet, fizz, and more. The “Vacay Collection” explores an all new realm of environments and challenges, both worldly and painterly. The movement, muddiness, and misinformation underwater combined with the beautiful reflections and dispersions of light and broken form, all captured with a new and less sophisticated digital technology proved to be an exciting new source for photorealism.
